Praying the Psalms: Psalm 138

When I was little, my dad loved singing while we were driving on long trips in the car.  Mum would get quite embarrased and ask Dad to put the windows up, but he loved every minute of driving along, singing at the top of his lungs, for everyone to hear.  He would just get so excited about our time together as a family and need to express it.

Psalm 138 is a psalm of such home truth, such an exhortation of who God is, that for me, it’s one of those ‘sing it out your car window’ songs.

I get so excited when I think of who our big God is and how He is king over all and how he has made my heart strong when it needed to be and tender when it needed to be – that I just want to sing loudly about it for all to hear!

We have such great joy and privilege to be able to worship our creator God, the one who hears all our prayers and answers every one, the one who preserves our life when we walk in trouble, the one who fulfills his promises to us.

I dont have a whole lot to say really, the psalm says it all – what a joy it is to be called a child of God and know my eternal purpose and salvation in Him who has called me by name.  What a joy it is to be able to sing it from the rooftops and tell others, to share this incredibly, delightfully, good news.

Thank you Jesus!
