Week 9: The Lord’s Supper
Church looks like
As the early church gathered together, their meals were punctuated by a simple meal that Jesus instituted the very last time that the disciples were all gathered together. It’s a meal that has been reenacted across the church from generation to generation – a simple reminder of the profound: Jesus’ body broken for us (the broken bread), and a new agreement between God and humanity sealed by the blood of Jesus (the wine). It’s a meal combining remembrance and proclamation. A meal to return to again and again and again…until he comes.
