Praying the Psalms: Psalm 33

There are times when I feel that writing anything about certain Scriptures would only serve to muddy up something that is so majestically written.

Psalm 33 is grandiose. I feel like it places me on a mountain top, giving me a panorama as far as the eye can see across snow-capped mountain ranges. Sometimes a vista is better viewed in silence, and I just want to say, “look and see for yourself!”

I urge you to read this psalm repeatedly; meditate on it, speak it out and let yourself hear these words. Let it mull around in your mind and slowly tumble down into your heart. Give yourself time for it to soak in to your soul.

The power and presence of God is clearly displayed. We see the God who fashioned the heavens and the earth in command of all creation. No counsel or plan is concealed from his sight, and nothing happens that is outside his plan and purpose. The ultimate end of all things are in His hands. This same God has shown us his steadfast love. In the face of death or famine, we know that God will deliver us; our soul is saved. He is our help, our protection, and our source of Joy. Hope in Him.
